Online Advanced Degree
As I approach the commencement of my online master's program, I am growing more excited and a little anxious. I recognize this is normal. I wanted some information on how to prepare myself and after reading some good tips, I decided to re/post them for my readers... http://www.campusexplorer.com/college-advice-tips/690AEF5C/How-to-Survive-Your-Online-Masters-Degree-Program/
Remember: You are capable of things far beyond your imagination. Be open to detours the new path provides along this novice journey.
Best Regards to achieving your goal of earning an advanced degree!
UPDATE: I completed my Saint Joseph University Ed.M in Special Education degree courses in December 2015 and walked May 2016. I was not going to attend graduation initially; however, all the hard work I put forth and the support my immediately family gave warranted a happy ceremony of closure. The work was tedious and at times seemed never ending. Between the January 2014 and December 2015 terms I had a weekend break before the next semester started - this is NOT an exaggeration. I pray for and commend anyone who works full time while earning a master's degree. It was beyond challenging! Most weekends were spent reading and writing all morning and afternoon, until I could not force my brain to concentrate any longer on the research. Between the final 2 semesters, I wanted to take a break because I felt mentally exhausted. I did not take that break and I do not regret the choice to push through. I feel more accomplished, because I was able to press forward, despite doubting if I could make it to the "finish line". I did let go of my goal to earn a 4.0 GPA and earned a 3.9. If had taken that break, perhaps I could have pulled out that higher rank... or maybe I would still be saying that I was going to go back to complete the program...who knows. I do know that letting go of the idea of perfection allowed me to sleep better at night and feel less mentally fatigued. Enjoy the link below perfectly explaining how it feels while one is earning an advanced degree (online or not): https://www.buzzfeed.com/daves4/21-pictures-that-will-make-grad-students-laugh-harder-than-t?utm_term=.ktXzQ7AEA#.soYG6aYmY
