(English Speaking) Great Dentist in Daejeon

In March of 2017, I had my first dentist appointment since relocating to SK. I was a little overdue, because my six month check up should have occurred in January. It was not very hard to find an English speaking dentist once I GTS. I found an expat forum that recommended a few doctors. I chose the one closest to my residence that had an English speaking staff and receptionist, Berkeley Dental Office with Dr. Man Hee Park. I had no idea what to expect as far as the conditions of her office, other than previous clients stating it was clean. I was delighted to find a spacious, modern, calm and welcoming atmosphere. The lobby is incredibly spacious and inviting; however, I did not have much time to spend on the comfy couch, because I only had to wait 5 minutes or less. I entered the glass doors to a brightly lit room with a flat screen TV and lots of seating, along the walls various Dr. Park’s degrees and advertisements for teeth whitening and other procedures. The receptionist was speaking with a male client so I waited patiently for a minute or so. When the seat in front of her desk was open I told her I was there for my 5:30pm cleaning and handed her my Alien Registration Card. She checked me in and asked me to have a seat. There was soft music playing in the background. The dental assistant called me back. I hung up my jacket and purse then sat in a tight space that was divided with a partition to create two service areas. There were beautiful plants to observe from the chair and a monitor. Post cleaning, Dr. Park used the monitor to show me where my cavity was located. We discussed my insurance coverage dental care options in her office. Payment is provided after services. I paid less $15 USD for the cleaning and was on my way. The entire visit took 30 minutes and was pleasant. She is a dentist I have seen twice thus far; first for the cleaning and second to fill the medium sized cavity. The cost of the filling was 80,000 KRW (less than $80) for a white filling. We agreed on the more expensive filling, because studies are now revealing that silver metal fillings in the mouth long term lead to types of cancer. I will see her again for another cleaning in September, since I am planning to renew my 12 month teaching contract.
I would recommend Dr. Park’s services. FYI: She studied in SK and the US.

Directions:
If you take the metro or subway ride to Tanbang and take exit 4, walk towards HomePlus - DO NOT cross to that side of the street. (Stay on the side that you exited the subway on.) Turn right at the corner, walk slowly pass the GS25 and walk into the building on the right. The building is in between GS25 and Tous le Jous. The building is to the right of the Tous le Jous; if you walk past it you’ve gone too far. Her office is located on the 5th floor of an office building directly across from the side of the Tanbang-dong HomePlus. The signage in and outside of the building’s elevator will direct you to Berkeley Dental Office on the 5th floor.
